OUR BRANCHES

ABOUT US

More than a soup kitchen:

Though Clementina began helping children during her own childhood as her mother served the less fortunate in her village and later when she was a school teacher, she is now working to create a program that provides for the children and mothers of her village long after she is gone. Because of this, she created the Clementina Martinez Foundation, an NGO sponsored by the KidSAKE Foundation. KidSAKE Executive Director, Jenny Rogers, collaborated with students, faculty and staff at Middle Tennessee State University in Tennessee as well as individual donors and others to raise funds to make this possible.

Plans beyond lunch:

Plans are now in place to create a foundation of self-reliance and personal development for mothers of children belonging to the soup kitchen. This means development of educational sponsorships, establishing a sound micro-enterprise, continuing the building projects housing their programs and planting a garden that will increase the food supply to the soup kitchen.

Leaving a legacy

With the help of the board of directors and members of the community of Cane, Honduras and The KidSAKE Foundation, Clementina will leave a legacy that continues to feed the women and children of her village long after she is gone.

Friends of the Clementina Martinez Foundation:

  • U.S. Military: troops stationed at Soto Cano Airbase have volunteered many hours while off duty. Projects include building improvements, donations, and food delivery.
